Dr. Mohan Rajesh Elara
KEYNOTE 1: The Rise of the Reconfigurable Robotics

Reconfigurable robots are intelligent machines capable of autonomously changing their kinematic morphologies to overcome complexities in the traversing environment or task being handled. Their promise of a high degree of versatility, robustness, and modularity is set to open up a wide range of new applications for robots. However, developing these robots is highly challenging. While some progress has been achieved, there are still many open issues. In this talk, I will share our ongoing efforts at the Singapore University of Technology and Design towards the design, development and deployment of reconfigurable robots using a well-defined set of deployment use cases in the maintenance domain. I will also provide an insight into our concerted efforts as a catalyst to inspire an ecosystem of Singapore-based robotic startups.

Dr. Ali Nahvi
KEYNOTE 2: Applications of Virtual and Augmented Reality in Future Intelligent Vehicles

Extended reality (XR) includes virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR). During the past ten years, many new XR applications have emerged because of rapid increase of computational power and astounding decrease in costs. Intelligent vehicles from level 1 to full autonomy are expected to leverage the full potential of XR technology to enhance safety and traffic efficiency. In this presentation, the subsystems of XR systems are covered and potential opportunities in academic and industrial institutions in the automotive industry and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are addressed.

Dr. Ali Nahvi
K. N. Toosi University of Technology

Dr. Ali Nahvi received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, McGill University, and the University of Utah. He is a faculty member at K.N. Toosi University of Technology in Iran. He ranked first in the Iranian entrance exam for postgraduate studies in mechanical engineering. He was recognized as an outstanding researcher by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology of Iran in 2016, 2018, and 2020. His research interests include virtual reality, driving simulators, driver behavior, advanced driver assistance systems, and augmented reality. He is the chairman of the board of directors of Nasir Simulator Technology company – the biggest Iranian knowledge-based company in the field of simulators and advanced driver assistance systems.
